John Cena is the voice of “Help Wish Kids Take Flight”

Wow! The WWEmoms Twitter Chat with the Make-A-Wish Foundation ranked tops in our book for social good programs. What a wonderful kick-off celebration of Worldwide Make-A-Wish Day on April 29th.

During a recent family trip to Toronto through several major airports we kept seeing the Make-A-Wish Donate Airmiles campaign. Thanks to WWE’s life lessons in social good works and citizenship, the children actually noticed the ads. You can imagine how thrilled the children were when they learned that their Wrestlemania Champion John Cena leads the charge. To grant a sick child their dying wish is the ultimate in good deeds, and it should definitely guarantee you a place in Heaven no matter what your religion.

World Wish Day celebrates the anniversary of the first wish granted. Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting program. The Foundation’s mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities.

Last year, Make-A-Wish foundation granted roughly 14,000 wishes or a wish every 38 minutes. WWE Superstars grant 120 wishes every year. The WWE’s work allows us to teach our children amazing life lessons about how important it is to help others

Here are some key facts from our chat:

Given the recent tragedy in Boston, we all had a wake-up moment about how sacred life is—especially that of your child.  We can’t even imagine what the family who lost the 8-year-old boy must be experiencing. So if we can help other families give their terminally ill child some happiness and peace, we will rise to the occasion.  In fact, donating to the Make-A-Wish foundation is a wonderful way to commemorate those lost or injured at the Boston Marathon and events following the bombing.

As we finish writing this post, would you believe the song “We Could Be Heros” By David Bowie comes on the radio….how fitting for WWE!
