From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate hanging in the balance.
Take a sneak peek on Quill:
Marvel Studio’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which is based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name and first appeared in comic books in January 1969, stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista. Its ensemble cast also features Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket and Lee Pace as Ronan. Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou and John C. Reilly also appear, as do Glenn Close as Nova Prime Irani Rael and Benicio Del Toro as The Collector. We want to note that Zoe Saldana as the heroic Gamora stands up for what is right, proving to be a strong role model for our girls.
A Great Female Role Model in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy
We took our kids to a pre-screening of the movie in New York City at the same time as it premiered in Los Angeles. Our very enthusiastic 12-year-old son asked to write the movie commentary for us:
“I thought this movie was going to be good, but it wasn’t. It was amazing. This was by far the best Marvel movie I have ever seen. Although there was a cop-out, this movie was hilarious, and the computer-generated imagery was great. The 3D popped out right in my face. My favorite character was Rocket, the raccoon. He was so cute and was the funniest character. Bradley Cooper did a great job with the character development.
“This movie is perfect for ages 10 to 100. This movie blew my mind. If you are going to see this movie I would recommend seeing it in 3D or 3D Imax. I give this movie five stars. You must see this movie because you will not regret it!”

We do feel that we could not have said it any better! Definitely do not miss Guardians of the Galaxy when it opens in theaters on August 1st.
