This October we had a much-needed reunion with forever friends in the Provence region of France. Visiting Provence made for a beautiful and relaxing vacation. Provence has it all; stunning landscapes, rich history, majestic vineyards (with a tremendous variety of wines), enjoyable hikes, and divine culinary experiences.

We recommend flying into Marseilles and renting a car so you can day trip to the numerous quaint towns across the region:

Here’s how to best navigate the region:

Accommodations: we stayed at the beautiful Airbnb: Maison Menerbes. Take a peak at the gorgeous suites.

After a good night’s rest and a swim, you can explore our favorite highlights of the area:

Ménerbes: An ancient medieval walled city in the Luberon Mountains. Peter Mayle wrote “A Year in Provence” (Also a movie starring Russell Crowe Produced by Ridley Scott) from his home in Ménerbes. The town is also famous for its holiday truffle festival and many regional vineyards. While in Menerbes, you must visit the House of Dora Maar : Dora Maar was a surrealist artist and photographer in the 30’s/ 40’s who was the companion and muse of Picasso.

L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue Marché: Beautiful clothes, antiques and food market.

Domaine Tourbillon has a comprehensive tasting room featuring a variety of fine wines including Châteauneuf-du-Pape

-Hike to le Sentier des Ocres/Roussillon which resembles Mohab Utah

Chateau La Canorgue : Vineyard where “A Good Year” was filmed by Ridley Scott. Featuring a variety of specialty wines

Lourmarin nestles in the middle of vineyards, olive groves, and almond trees.

Gordes Market: fantastic clothes, soaps, and food

Lacoste, home to SCAD Museum of Fashion and the chateau of Marques de Sade redone by Pierre Cardin.

We can’t wait to hear about your trip. Know you will fall in love with Provence as much as we did.
