Trove: Helpful App for Working Women Who Need to Find Information Quickly

Trove: Our friend Praveen Singh, who is a busy working mom and in charge of Corporate Development at the TYT Network, recently introduced us to Trove.  This fabulous app features the best stories shared by people with common interests.

Praveen says, “Trove lets me keep track of specific topics I want to stay on top of but don’t have the bandwidth to search for.  Smart people curate lists on interesting topics that I can choose from and save time.  One of my favorite Troves is Toddler Geeking, where I can get the latest updates on cool gadgets for kids.  I’ve bought some great smart toys for my kids that I found on that Trove.  The Troves I curate myself are on topics that I spend the most time reading about or that I just enjoy.  My real guilty pleasure is curating my Celebrity Gossip for Working Moms!”  Check out Praveen’s Troves at Celebrity Gossip For Working Moms and also Working Mom – The Journey.

We know Praveen is very hip, so we are definitely following her Troves, as we need all the help we can get!  If there’s a topic that you’re really into, you can also create your own Trove.  Isn’t it amazing how someone else’s hobby of donating their time to curate important content, as with Trove, can help make all our lives so much easier?  We just love the connectedness of social media, because it empowers all women with accessibility to the information that we need to balance family, work and life. Uber Helps With Carpool issues:

Uber: This handy app allows you to find a car service in a safe and financially secure manner.  Our wonderful friend who is a single working mom realized this app was a lifesaver when her son got injured during hockey practice.  She had to rush him to the emergency room, but meanwhile her daughter needed to be picked up from swim practice.  Uber helped her out of this jam by enabling her to find a safe ride for her precious teen angel quickly.

Since the recent announcement that Uber is now valued at $18.2 billion, we are realizing that this four-year-old company is truly disrupting the way traditional brands do business and is becoming a part of daily life for many in the over 130 cities in which it operates.  Uber lets you hail cars driven by both professional and nonprofessional drivers as part of the so-called shared economy.  Our friend Arun Sundararajan, who is a professor at New York University, believes that the shared economy is the way of the future and the best way for cities to function more efficiently.  It is a shame about recent issues in Europe, because we imagine that Uber never meant to negatively impact another’s livelihood.  While we realize that there will be complications and resistance as businesses adjust to accommodate these innovations, we feel that this evolving economy will in the long run prove extremely beneficial to everyone.

Can Uber help usher in an era where consumers are connected to everyday goods and services through their smartphones?  Since we moms are purchasing more and more products on our phones everyday, why not get extra help with carpooling that way, too?  Uber just announced a partnership with American Express that will allow Uber users who are also qualified American Express cardholders enrolled in the Membership Rewards plan to earn points on the rides they take or even pay for rides with points.  For more information about this, please go to Uber & Amex.  Both Apps are available for both iOS and Android and are free.

What are your experiences with these apps?  We’d love to hear from you.

We hope you find Trove and Uber: Helpful Apps for Working Women useful!
