Gore Mountain’s Copperfield Inn Makes For A Fun Family Ski Vacation.  Recently we had a total blast at the u-19 Alpine ski competition at Gore Mountain, where the best of 16- to 19-year-olds compete in multiple racing events.  We found that Gore has both incredible views and vertical for all ability.  We also really enjoyed the town of North Creek, which is just a few miles down the road.  This cute and vibrant village reminds us a lot of Charlemont, Massachusetts, where we ski most weekends at Berkshire East Ski Resort.

Visiting North Creek, New York, Makes for a Fun Family Ski Vacation

There are plenty of little stores and restaurants in North Creek, and we found that Sarah’s Bakery has yummy sandwiches, and Bar Vin offers a wonderful gran cru sampling. We stayed at The Copperfield Inn and Resort in town and discovered that it boasts a rich history.

Central to that history is Trapper’s Tavern, a rustic pub at The Copperfield, home to an enormous moose head that was shot by Teddy Roosevelt before he became president.

You can grab a delicious bite at this tavern, which boasts traditional pub fare in a comfy Adirondack setting, complete with a roaring fire.

The Copperfield Inn and Resort is also super convenient to Gore and is pet-friendly.  They serve a great breakfast, perfect after a hot tub and sauna, to get the body ready to thrash the slopes.

In our down time, we so enjoyed walking around North Creek, which has a train museum and offers lots of crafts by local artisans.

We highly recommend both Gore and The Copperfield Inn and Resort for a low-key, family-friendly vacation.
