Given all that has been happening in our world from major hurricanes to bombings, we momma tigers just want to cling tightly to our cubs to keep them safe. However, as the leaders of our tribe, we must keep a positive outlook on life and teach our children to see the good in our world like all those who helped each other in the brave city of Boston.  But, it never hurts to be prepared and to teach our children to do the same:

Our top 5 favorite Life Saving or Crisis Preparedness Apps are:

  • CPR & Choking App: developed as a public service by leading physicians and educators in emergency care. The app provides instant details and quick video on how to do CPR and how to aid a choking victim. Of course, nothing is better than regular live training in CPR. Free and available for both iPhone and Android

  • CodeRED mobile alert: taps into the national CodeRED® Emergency Notification System and alerts subscribers located within the reach of a given notification generated by public safety officials. The app is geo-aware so no matter where you are when an alert is issued, you will receive notifications that affect you. Free and available for both iPhone and Android
  • Disaster Readiness: list topics ranging from how to make your own Disaster Supplies Kit to how to protect your family from nuclear radiation. The app is available for both iPhone and Android for $1.99. Also as backup, the Homeland Security website has great lists on how to prepare for emergencies at Ready.gov

  • ICE (In Case of Emergency) Standard : This free iPhone and Android app has been designed to be a great help in case of emergency. A first responder is able to see who to call and which person he deals with in only a few clicks. ICE can also be added to your lockscreen

  • Pocket First Aid & CPR: Whether you’re at home or on the road, the American Heart Association‘s Pocket First Aid & CPR application is at your fingertips with concise and clear instructions. You can check first aid procedures anytime, anywhere. The app is available for $3.99 for both iPhone and Android
