Today, we attended the first Disney Park’s “Social Media Moms Celebration On the Road” or #Disneyontheroad in Houston, TX at the Westin Oaks hotel.  We were very honored to be part of such an amazing group of speakers and fellow mom entrepreneurs (momprenuers)!

Maria Bailey, CEO of BSM Media and Mom Talk Radio, highlighted Disney’s key goal for the event: to help momprenuers spread the magic of empowerment to each other and ultimately to their children. With this theme in mind, Disney Parks realized that they can’t invite everyone to their annual conference so they decided to bring the inspiration to local moms with the #Disneyontheroad tour visiting Houston, Charlotte and Long Island.

The first keynote speaker former Olympian, Shannon Miller (pictured above), shared her journey post-olympics of how she battled ovarian cancer to find the silver lining of starting her own business and not-for-profit. Shannon stressed how when women face adversity in their lives, they just have to “keep getting back up” because anything is possible.

Laura Spencer, Disney Social Media Manager, outlined how as a shy child, she made amazing things happen by believing in dreams, hopes, wishes and light. She emphasized “as women, we don’t realize how powerful we really are to make a difference and to do it all”. These were true words of wisdom spoken from the heart. Then, an incredibly talented panel of momprenuers shared some practical best practices. Tips included: calling yourself a CEO to make sure you “own” your business and hiring a good lawyer you can trust to protect your product and ideas (we often call lawyers the “sales prevention” unit but we understand they are needed!).

The event closed with the entertaining and energetic Dayna Steele, Entrepreneur, Author, and DJ, who provided four key principles to live by to be a successful “rockstar” in your profession:

  • Networking
  • Passion/Belief
  • Knowledge:do your homework
  • Appreciation

The inspirational lessons shared by the keynote speakers, panelists and moderators proved that if you follow your passion you can make your wishes and dreams come true. These lessons are what made the Disney Parks conference a truly extraordinary experience. In our chaotic world, we must make time as women to empower ourselves, other women, and most important of all— our children.  We want to thank Disney Parks for an inspirational and empowering day! We can’t wait to hear about the events in Charlotte and Long Island and are looking forward to keeping in touch with all the brilliant momprenuers we met today! Please let us know how we can help promote your business.
