Seeing Niagara Falls ranks at the top of the family travel bucket list. Niagara Falls features not only breathtaking scenery, but also a scientific and cultural education for the whole family. An escarpment made of limestone, the Falls actually move up the Niagara River over time.  The Falls also straddle the border of both of America and Canada providing a glimpse of both cultures.

Niagara Falls: both the American and the Canadian Falls from the Rainbow Bridge

Our family has stayed on both the Canadian and the American side of the Falls. We recommend staying on the Canadian side unless all of sudden the exchange is outrageous.  Your family will want to spend most of your time on the Canadian side because that is where all the tourist attractions are located except the viewing tower of the American Falls. Walking across the Rainbow bridge will give you access to the viewing tower and provide incredible views of the Falls.

Sign up early for the Maid of the Mist Boat tours under the Falls.  On the tour, your children can learn about the history and the science of the area. After experiencing the Falls, your family can enjoy hours on Clifton Hill’s carnival like atmosphere. You can visit Tussaud’s Wax Works, the Guinness Book of World Records or Ripley’s Believe It or Not.  The city has everything from Dinosaur mini golf to Dracula’s haunted castle to Bronto’s Adventure land featuring Veggie Tales for young children. Our children had hours of fun navigating all the different attractions and the fun curio shops.
